The House Oversight Committee's impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden closed in December 2024 with no articles filed. Republicans had bank records showing $7.8M flowing to Biden family LLCs from China, Ukraine, and Romania (2014-2019), but no direct proof Joe Biden took official acts for the money.
Special Counsel David Weiss's final report (Jan 2025): "insufficient evidence to charge the former president."
Republican frustration: the pardon erased the only conviction. Democrats say the investigation was political and found no crime by Joe.
2. The Afghanistan withdrawal and the "13 service members"
What people want: Generals, Blinken, or Biden officials charged with negligence.
Where it stands:
No criminal investigation was ever opened. The House Foreign Affairs Committee issued a 300-page report in September 2024 blaming the Biden White House for ignoring warnings. It recommended contempt for Secretary Blinken (for not turning over documents) — the DOJ declined.
In 2025, the Trump DOJ opened a review, but Attorney General Pam Bondi testified in March 2026: "poor judgment is not a federal crime."
3. The border and Alejandro Mayorkas
What people want: Impeachment conviction, or prosecution for "aiding invasion."
Where it stands:
The House impeached Mayorkas in February 2024 on a 214-213 vote. The Senate dismissed the articles in April 2024 without a trial, calling them unconstitutional.
Mayorkas left office January 2025. He now teaches at Georgetown. No criminal charges were filed — federal law gives DHS secretaries broad discretion on parole and enforcement priorities.
Republicans introduced a new bill in March 2026 to strip his pension. It hasn't moved.
